@Manuel: A delicate spot. My wife is addicted to one of those super popular Japanese cooking social networks (literally spends 1-2 hours every evening on that site). So, recently, my wife won't let me cook anymore, as she wants to try all kinds of new plates that she has bookmarked the evening before.

I learned my cooking as a kid by the side of my (northern) Italian gradma (gnocchi, coniglio, polenta); most of my plates are Italian, yet I learned a lot from Marianne Kaltenbach's "Aus Italiens Küche" (German only), which has a lot of basic Italian cooking theory that is extremely useful. Any tips?

We now have such a tremendous amount of gratis info at our hands — thanks to the internet—, but even for old school nerds it is tricky to sort the good from the bad seeds. But that is the price for this information freedom i guess.

I used to check a shitload of feeds, just like the rest of us. Today the only news i check are those few selected sources i have added to google.com/ig — screenspace is obviously limited, so i hope this will prevent me of adding trillions of feeds there again. Sometimes i have to delete a source to add a better one when i find one.

@HAWKEN KING, I did pre-order the iPhone 3G, but not to be able to fill my head with junk whenever i want to. I just am totally pissed off when i sit somewhere and can not (with 2 or 3 clicks) check the next connecting bus schedule, like i am used to it when i am at home. It just makes me angry to know that there is this “2 to 3 clicks” technology out there and i can’t use it i such a situation.

The iPhone has nothing to do with the quality of content you find on the internet, but with accessibility.

Great read Oliver, which got me thinking:
Bought a new french cookbook recently?

A lovely read! It is a wonderful comparison of a monarchy and anarchy, both old and new. How I wish my history textbooks in school were written this way!

so, not getting the iphone on the 11th then? ;)

Ironically, "mobile me" appears to be streamlining our personal data consumption just like .mac did for the few, but now for the masses?
